Leaves, shape, color, exterior seeds—both pictures are images of strawberries–right? Wrong–one is a picture of snake berry, a visual twin to a strawberry. If one were not an experienced forager, one might say it was a different variety of strawberry. But snake berries have no strawberry flavor (I tasted one. Snake berries are not poisonous and, believe me, there was nothing in the flavor that would entice me to try one again.)
But sometimes a rose is a rose is a rose, until it is not. When one looks, studies, and analyzes (and yes, sometimes taste) a strange something, then one can make rational observations and comparisons and eventually tell a truth about the strange something.
The former president wants to compare himself to Jesus, MLK and Tutu (Why Black males when he despises Black people? Go figure.). Sad that he has used their names which would only be tarnished by the comparison. He should compare himself to King Ahab…one of the most evil Kings in Israel’s history. (1 Kings 16:29 The Jerusalem Bible…was worse than all his predecessors…) He was amoral and led his people to ruin. Some facts about King Ahab–he married Jezebel, a princess from a foreign land, who worshipped Baal, he erected an altar to Baal and served Baal and not Yahweh; the Israelites suffered during his reign; he and his family were the scourge of Israel; when he could not buy a vineyard, he went home and sulked and his wife had the owner murdered; he banished the prophets who did not tell him what he wanted to hear; and he was a hypocrite as he only honored Yahweh when Yahweh threatened to punish him. In a battle that a true prophet told him was a bad idea, he disguised himself and was killed anyway. Ahab bled to death and dogs licked his blood. Then, his chariot was washed in a pool where prostitutes bathed.
A commentator, Richard L. Strauss, had this to say about King Ahab–Can you believe that a grown man would act this childishly? Some do. Weak, vacillating people like Ahab often want their own way just as much as headstrong, domineering people like Jezebel. But they react differently when they do not get it. While the forceful ones rant and rave, strike out at those who stand in their way, throw fits and destroy things, the weak ones sulk and pout and fret like spoiled children. They may refuse to get out of bed and even refuse to eat. They just want to feel sorry for themselves and let everybody know how bad things are for them. All they really succeed in doing is letting people know how self-centered and immature they are.
Sound like someone you know? The former president married a former illegal alien (his current wife), he views women as prostitutes, not worthy of respect, he belittles and harangues anyone who does not agree with him; during his presidency, the people suffered as he pandered to the rich and the corporations; he cares only for his selfish gain; he treats Christianity as Ahab treated Yahweh; and he is the G.O.A.T. of victims. (one could list more character flaws, but you get the picture.) Does the United States need an incarnation of King Ahab as president? (An aside–historians who rate presidents have already rated the former president as one of the worst.)
There is a difference between government and a business. A government is supposed to serve, protect, and benefit the people. A business is created to maximize profit for its shareholders. In a capitalistic society, which the U.S. is, there is no overlapping of the two goals. As businessman after businessman fail in governing, the Republicans want to double down because they only see the easy grift in which they eagerly participate. In their greedy grift, there is no serve, protect, or benefit for the people.
A thought–I was talking with a TSU graduate and she reminded me that in the late 1970s or early 1980s, there was a push to merge TSU with UT. I wonder if that is the goal of the racist white supremacists this time and then the money owed to TSU would go to its successor-in-interest–UT? Wouldn’t put it past them.
In the past the white supremacists would give out slices of watermelon for our votes. Only their Black handlers got a whole watermelon. A watermelon party, anyone? (When I lived in Memphis, an elder told me the stories of the white sponsored events in the Black community in the week(s) leading up to an election.) In the last presidential election, the former president sent out minions with envelopes of cash. $10, anyone? (One dollar bills make any envelope look stuffed.) Now, tee shirts, gold sneakers, Bibles…oh, let’s not forget milkshakes….how cheap can we be or self-hating can we be? Some of us make fools of themselves and we all suffer, because we are not individuals, we are a monolith. I know that’s not true, but the media will shout the actions of the few as the beliefs/actions of the majority.
When it’s time for these traitors to meet their Ancestors, they will wail, gnash their teeth, and cry victim, when their Ancestors shun them and deny them entrance. The Ancestors will send them to the white man’s afterworld. Want to be a slave in life; well, be a slave for eternity.Think about it…our Ancestors knew who the biscuit eaters were. They knew who to feed misinformation to. They knew who to never come back for. And, now, the biscuit eaters have media platforms from which to shout their treachery and their love of their white masters. They may be loud, but they are not representative.
Whites have always rewritten history. Whites want to be known as the good guys and they have rewritten history to justify their false narrative. Maybe, in this time, they won’t be able to rewrite history because there will be too many stories available for all to read and those stories will contradict the narrative that will be written in books, shown in theaters, monumentalized in parks, etc. And, there will be some who will be curious, in spite of the dumbing down of the citizenry, who will seek the truth and keep the truth alive.
