Hard to believe that the turkey’s ancestor was a dinosaur. Not Tyrannosaurus rex like Sue at the Chicago’s Field Museum, but theropods. A relative that was probably just as vicious. When we have a family reunion in Chicago, we always visit the Field Museum. I took this picture at the family reunion in 2015?
What!? U.S. threatening Nigeria because some Christians are being targeted. Is this regime insane? None of this regime is Christian. At least, not by biblical standards. Is this performative terrorism to deflect people from the lack of food, medical care, broken promises? Like the boats that are being destroyed…another test to see if people react to the indiscriminate murder of those white supremacists consider the “Other”? What interest does the United States have that are impacted by “Christians” being targeted in Nigeria?
I can’t say it enough. Podcasters, stop talking about “good” white people. When white people see us as individuals and not some criminal, welfare cheating monolith, then one can individualize them. but until then, they are white supremacists who do not have our best interests at heart. Don’t give them grace when they have none to give in return. I don’t understand why you don’t see that they weaponize “good” white people against us. They’ll ensure we know about the one that did something that any normal human being would do and say it proves white people aren’t racist. Don’t give them that out! They, as group, need to change. They need to feel uncomfortable. The discomfort may cause a positive change. I doubt it because they are masters at doubling down on the evil they do.
I listen to more than a few You Tubers. Historians, degreed and otherwise, cannot imagine a world that is not wedded to patriarchy. They are correct that if patriarchy persists that present societies will collapse, just as past societies have. What if there is a paradigm shift to something that is not patriarchy? Then, it would not be inevitable that societies would collapse because that something other would provide choices not dreamed of by those steeped in patriarchy.
I watched an immigrant on a You Tube video say that too much immigration is bad for society. What I heard was I got mine, now you stay where you are because your arrival will in some way diminish me. I also heard him say that he obtained an Ivy League education through hard work. The mote in this You Tuber’s eyes is huge. If it weren’t for affirmative action, that Ivy League school never would have accepted him.
What I have never heard him say is that collapse is inevitable in any greed based system. All of his markers for the collapse of society are based in greed. His selfishness and lack of empathy for immigrants is based in greed. I suppose if the system of patriarchy has rewarded you then there would be no incentive for you to criticize it or to think there is a better system for us humans.
Politically the South has always been on the wrong wide of history. The universe does bend toward justice, but the arc is long and slow. November 4, 2025 was a good night for democracy. Why do people have to experience pain to want better for themselves? This regime could have been avoided, but voters chose a criminal to lead them. For me, the racism, the failed business practices, the moronic childish desire for revenge, and the felonious conduct was a no from the beginning for me. Now, we are here in 2025 and people are congratulating themselves over seeing the light–after this regime has murdered foreign nationals in international waters for no reason, put a wrecking ball to parts of the White House, gaudily, crassly, tastelessly redecorated parts of the White House, wasted millions of dollars on parties, golfing, vacations, and other perks of office, refused to release appropriated funds for food assistance to the needy, passed bill that will increase health care costs and give billions of dollars to the wealthy, destroyed markets for farmers and now prepares to give those farmers a handout, continuously spews lies and hate, pardons criminals for payment, shut down the government to appease ego. Why did this have to happen before people began to wake up and smell the coffee?
What is it about the time change, especially the “fall back” time change? Each year the early darkness appears darker than the year before. And the darkness appears to come earlier every day and I suppose it does until the winter solstice and then second by second there is more light in each day. This week there will be freezing temperatures, so I brought in my potted plants. Each year, the first freeze comes later. That’s good for my plants as they’re inside for about a month less than in the past. For the longest, like clockwork, the killing frost came in the middle of October. Now, the killing frost comes when it comes.
Some states held elections this week and the voters resoundingly sent a message that the current regime is unpopular. That was a ray of light in what is happening. This regime refused to provide SNAP, but the Courts ordered it to. Of course, the regime appealed the order, but, it appears that some are getting the benefit. Some States are funding the benefits, but as I wrote previously, not Tennessee.
There is such cruelty in what the regime is doing. No food assistance unless this regime can make health care unaffordable. What a no-win situation. No money for food, but the taxpayers can pay for a Halloween party for the rich and various perks for the regime.
The okra and the beans are still blooming. However, tonight will be in the twenties…so no more okra or beans. And the butterflies and bees must have known that a chill was coming as I haven’t seen any butterflies or bees for a week or so.
Well, the corporate Democrats sold out the people. Some deal has been reached to reopen the government. Not clear if the Democrats got anything in return, but lies. And corporate goodwill to keep the donations flowing? It’s clear that the suffering of the people will increase and continue. Criminals are being pardoned while the Republicans blatantly party on the taxpayer dollar. Sigh! The ray of light that shone so brightly for so brief a time is dimming.
So, if the devil is beating his wife when the sun is shining and it rains, the devil’s wife must be combing her hair when the sun is shining and it snows!!!
