Western Civilization…???

This rabbit is back. I wonder where its companion is? Being a trad-rabbit somewhere in a burrow with the little rabbits?

Going through a cool spell–Blackberry Winter? The berry canes are blooming!

“Journalist: What do you think of Western civilization? Gandhi: I think it would be a good idea.” Mark Twain–“There are many humorous things in the world; among them, the white man’s notion that he is less savage than the other savages.” I believe it was Socrates who said Man, know thyself. Until the group that calls itself “white” does some serious introspection and comes to know that their created image of self is false, there can be no civilization of which they are a part. So called Western Civilization is based in lies from its beginning to the present. The Greeks, who at one time were not considered “white”, did not create western philosophy or the basis of western thought… The Greeks were honest… The Greeks studied in Egypt. Aristotle tutored Alexander the Great and accompanied him on his rampage through the known world at that time. When Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, Aristotle took as spoils many Egyptian texts and later claimed those texts as his own. Before that, Plato studied in Egypt. And before Plato, there was Solon. There are probably more, from many other areas of the known world at that time, who studied in Egypt whose names are lost to us. The point…the deification by the whites of these persons who they now claim is based in the lie of white supremacy and European exceptionalism.

The protection of [property] is the first object of government. James Madison, excerpt from the “Federalist Number 10″and excerpted from A True History of the United States by Daniel A. Sjursen, p. 82. Tennessee Senate has introduced a bill that will make Tennessee a more dangerous place to live in. Tennessee Senate Bill 1847 says a person is justified in using deadly force to protect property. The Bill has some qualifiers that no idiot, uneducated Tennessean will take into account when shooting at someone who they think might be stealing their property. Take the prohibition against shooting the alleged perpetrator in the back…I can hear someone saying that they thought the person was running toward them and they were in fear of their life. So an uneducated ignorant person will be judge and jury as to whether his property is being taken and then executioner of a human being.

Is the protection of property the first object of government as stated by James Madison in the 1700s or is the first object of government the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of the citizen? Do we really want to live in country where property is valued more than human life? I know there is some property that is sentimental that cannot be replaced, but on the whole, property can be replaced. A human life can never be replaced. In Tennessee, drug and alcohol use is rampant… What happens when the drunk or drug user in a non compos mentis state (not sane or rational) decides to shoot someone because he or she thought someone was violating their ownership rights? The law in such a State as Tennessee is a license to kill the neighbor or anyone one doesn’t like if that person is unlucky enough to be on one’s property, by invitation or even inadvertently. Note: only the shooter’s story will be told as the alleged perpetrator will be dead. Hatfields and McCoys, anyone?

Maybe we already live in a country where property is valued more than human life. We know this country does not care about feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, providing clean water or air, but this country does value greed, grift, exploitation, resource extraction, and low or no taxes for the wealthy and super-wealthy.

What if this country had laws on the books that required a living wage be paid to workers, that higher education and medical care were rights and not something that would cripple one with debt; that housing would be provided at a rate affordable to the citizen; that nutritious food would be provided at reasonable prices? There wouldn’t be a need for a law that said one could be murdered for the interference with another’s ownership of property.

In Zinn’s book and others, the authors talk about the “virtuous man”. That the republic created as the governing system would always work for all citizens because the elected representatives would be “virtuous”. Virtuous–having high moral standards; morally good; acting in conformity to the moral law; practicing the moral duties; and abstaining from vice. (Combination of lay and Biblical definitions of “virtue”.) We know the governing regime does not meet this definition. Also, many of the representatives at all levels of government do not meet this definition. What we have are representatives who have been bought by corporate and foreign PACs; representatives who are abusers of women; representatives who are pedophiles; representatives whose reason for running was to enrich themselves and maybe their families. You get the picture…none of them care one whit about “virtue”. Therefore, one of the basic prerequisites, in the mind of the founders, of a democratic republic that actually works for the “people” is non-existent.

Another varietal of flea bane. Much smaller, more of a ground cover. It was growing next to what looked like Carolina horse nettle:

When identifying plants using Google Lens, I find it’s best to use the leaves as the identifier and not the flower. Lots of weeds have yellow flowers and they all look pretty much the same.

Mind Doodle–The sign says a rattlesnake is in the edifice. Everyone knows it is somewhere in the edifice. The snake is cunning and keeps itself hidden. All who enter the edifice are at risk. Will denying the snake is in the edifice make it disappear, make it less dangerous? Isn’t the knowing keeping one on edge? How can anyone rest easy knowing that the snake is somewhere ready to strike? End Mind Doodle.

Who’s gonna save us now?
Nobody’s gonna save us now
Excerpt from song Blood In The River by The War and Treaty

Should be–Who’s gonna save us now?
We gonna save us now!
(For some reason, the above ending doesn’t sit right with me, but my revision does.)
