It has been about ten days since the ice storm and the shrubs in front are still ice/snow covered. My side of the street just doesn’t get the sunlight needed to melt the ice and snow. Other houses still have iced covered sidewalks and steps. Today is Monday and the temperature should be in the forties so more of this concretized ice will melt. Went for walk and saw that a neighbor’s tree had fallen on my fence. There’s some damage to the fence. I shall see what kind of cleanup they’ll do and if they will offer to pay for the fence.
Had a good conversation with the plumber that was on site. The house is being renovated and I have no idea who actually owns the house. I’ll look it up, eventually.

The most common version of the theory is that skirt lengths get shorter in good economic times (1920s, 1960s)[1] and longer in bad, such as after the 1929 Wall Street crash. However, the reverse has also been proposed with longer skirts signaling prosperity (1950s).
Revealing clothing worn by celebrities may be a ploy by those in power to distract from the current economic conditions. The clothes worn by some female celebrities leave absolutely nothing to the imagination. If short skirts mean a good economy, then nearly naked women in public spaces attending societal sanctioned functions must herald a booming economy? All harks back to the patriarchy and the perpetual adolescent it has created that will be mesmerized by an unclothed female.
The rich parasite must be defanged. These parasites lack humility and empathy. (humility–the quality of having a modest view of one’s value or importance; empathy–the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another.) I don’t think there is any way for them to gain those qualities short of a near death experience and even that may not cause them to change as both qualities require a soul and it is doubtful that these greed filled emptinesses have that. They are lost to humanity.
The Harmony Society–German origins, abolitionists, pacifists, practiced celibacy, active in U.S. from circa1804-1905 New Harmony, Indiana ended up in Pennsylvania A cult, but one that used up to date methods to build three towns in the U.S. Another example of males being terrified of the female orgasm/sexuality. They practiced celibacy, lost members because of it, and those that were left had few offspring. When the cult was disbanded, it only had three members. (A friend told me about the town…New Harmony, IN and that the town reminded her of Mayberry. It was a town with not one Black resident at the time and, even though the mixed group she was with was treated courteously, they were stared at.)
Memory is a trickster. I would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that I had read, far in the past, both 1984 and Brave New World. Well, now I have read the two books and now I know I have never read the books. Excerpts…yes; books…no. I had 1984 on a bookshelf and I had to buy a copy of Brave New World. In the last year or so, I reread Animal Farm (George Orwell) and it was a re-read. I don’t remember when I first read Animal Farm, but I thought I had read 1984 and Brave New World way before then.
Homo lacerta cerebrum, the white male group of that species, stuck in toddlerhood to adolescence, is absolutely terrified of the female orgasm. That’s terror is rife in both 1984 (George Orwell 1949) and Brave New World (Aldous Huxley 1932). Brave New World handles the terror by brainwashing and drugging females to be happy having sex with any male and mechanizing the procreation process. (Everyone has access to the “happy” drug. A happy population is a docile population with no need for intellect, curiosity, love, difference…)
In 1984, Big Brother controls every aspect of one’s existence. One is constantly surveilled. There is no care, no love for anyone or thing or self. No care for any one person. Therefore, no orgasms. Big Brother absorbs all of its subjects’ energy. There are parents, but the children are brainwashed from an early age to seek approval only from Big Brother. However, there is only the elite who are thus surveilled and sucked dry by the parasitic Big Brother. There is a class, the unwashed masses, who are ignorant, uneducated, ill-fed, diseased, disposable pawns used by Big Brother to fight wars, to manufacture goods, and to mass feed Big Brother’s need for adulation.
1984 reminded me of the Star Trek episode–The Return of the Archons and the computer, Landru, that controlled the people of that planet. I don’t remember much about the episode except the the people moved like robots, were eerily polite, and participated in a Dionysian frenzy every so often. They were mind-controlled, but the brainwashing sometimes wasn’t as effective for some as for the majority.
In Brave New World, dissidents are sent to an island to be with other dissidents. In 1984, they are brutalized into submission, paraded before the masses, and eventually executed.
I re-read Fahrenheit 451. (Ray Bradbury 1953) I think I read this book in high school, so I didn’t remember any details. This book foresaw the Age of Media and even more specifically, the Twitter phenomenon which at first limited posts to 140 characters. And it was also prescient in noting that the government didn’t ban reading, the citizens did not want to read. The citizens wanted shorter and shorter soundbites. The citizens could read…barely…however, the citizens had no comprehension of the meanings of the words they used. The citizens wanted adrenaline rushes and twenty-four seven entertainment. This was a society where there was no trust as neighbors, family, etc. would report one to the authorities for infractions. There was also little or no empathy for fellow citizens. The background in the story was war, fear, mass drug use, inability to critically think, emotional immaturity, loss of history, personal and societal.
This United States appears to be headed in the direction of 1984, with the addition of The Handmaid’s Tale to ensure the subjugation of the female and Fahrenheit 451 to ensure the citizen as idiot’s addiction to entertainment. All of the afore-mentioned books were meant as cautionary tales, but the non-thinking adolescent has turned them into a Bible that soothes his insecurities and creates in him a false image of self. The end result is the destruction of this Earth. Would there be Mars for this sad excuse of an Earthling!
In none of these books, including he ones written by women is the “patriarchy” mentioned or considered the cause of the “dystopia”. The patriarchy is the invisible hand that no one considers when writing or thinking about the ills that plague us. In order for patriarchy to end, it has to be recognized and not treated as something that is invincible.
I noticed something about the Ice Agents whose names were released because they killed a white male. All of them had Spanish last names. Can you believe in 2026, these white supremacists have brown males brutalizing brown people for the benefit of white people who, if it’s true, are not paying these brown males. That’s whites for you–convince others to fight their wars, build their countries, manufacture their goods,–all for them–the money all goes to them.
And it is a pattern. The whites lure in these “Others” to do their building, fight their wars, do their dirty work with promises they have no intention of keeping. Do we not realize that the so called Founding Fathers who were stealing the land from the Natives needed disposable bodies to be the first wave of settlers in those stolen lands? How did they get those disposable bodies? By promising the poor landless whites land…stolen lands…if they fought the British. Then, and only then, did the landed gentry follow. I wonder how much of the land did those who cleared the land and massacred the Natives get to keep when the “Greed” arrived?
