Ice storm more so than snow storm! The trees are coated and it does look like a winter wonder land. But limbs are falling and it’s best to stay inside.
I finally watched Sinners. Seems like it has garnered many Oscar nominations. I am not a fan of movies. I always like to read the book, if there is one, before I watch a movie. I’ve written about Robert Johnson before. He met the devil at a crossroads and sold his soul so that he would be the best blues singer/guitarist. The music in Sinners was that old timey blues. The scenery was that of Jim Crow deep South–cotton fields and chain gangs. And the message–that’s my problem with the movie–become like the white people and you will exist in the shadows. Love a black woman and your children and you will die. That’s simplistic, but that’s the gist of the message I gleaned from it. Needless to say, I will not watch it again.
I was scrolling through my music and saw a song by B.B. King and Ray Charles called Sinner’s Prayer. I don’t know if I’d ever listened to it before. The song was on a album of duets by Ray Charles and other singers. I listened to the album because I couldn’t figure out what song had induced me to buy the album! After listening, I still have no idea why I bought the album. I like Ray Charles early songs like Busted and Let’s Go Get Stoned. The songs were old standards so– nostalgia…maybe? An aside: Isn’t it weird how becoming aware of a word, etc., how often that word pops up where one least expects?
To get back to the song– Here’s an excerpt:

Notice the “ifs”. I don’t see this as an apology, so much as a false accountability ploy. Like many apologists of today. You know if you done somebody wrong–you know what you know. Kind of like, forgive me in advance for the wrong I’m about to do, so I can sleep easy knowing that heaven awaits in the end.
It’s par for the course that a singer issued an apology for his ignorance and disrespect. Probably the only reason he did so was to insure sales of the record album he is releasing. Always follow the money when one hears an apology. Maybe, people who would buy his album will understand that they are being soothed/played so that he can relieve them of their money. It’s time to bankrupt those who use our good nature for their personal gain and give nothing but hate and disrespect in return.
Homo lacerta cerebrum, especially those who call themselves “white” really do want The Handmaid’s Tale type of society. These males have so little self-esteem and inflated egos and they are so very ignorant that they will never realize that the problem is them. They are their own worse enemy. They will not do the inner work to grow themselves and they are and will be perpetually looking for an outside agent that when vanquished will soothe their lacks.
The women who embraced being a “trad-wife” were just the beginning. Even though, many of these women have found that being a trad wife means being impoverished with children when the male their protector, their benefactor, their oppressor decides that he wants a younger trad wife. That’s one thing the author got right in The Handmaid’s Tale–males crave variety and will murder the current wife in order to rope in another fool and the cycle continues until the male drops dead. I wonder if these women understand that if divorce is not easily available, then these males will murder them when they want a younger model. They might murder them anyway because they will not want to pay alimony or child support.
The regime is murdering white people, a white woman and now a white male. There are protests, but Republicans…is that a bridge too far? We shall see who votes to shut down the government and keep it shut down until this regime is gone.

This picture was taken on Monday after the ice storm. I went outside and walking is treacherous. There is a coating of ice over the thin layer of snow and unless one breaks through that ice with a stomp when walking, one can easily slip and fall. The sun is out and the trees are dressed up in ice which iridesces in the sun. My camera cannot pick that up, but it is there!
Zeitgeist–the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era. Egregore–non-physical entity or thoughtform that arises from the collective thoughts and emotions of a distinct group of individuals. I don’t see too much difference in the meanings of these two words. It’s interesting how people are excited about what to them is a new word without thinking whether or not there is a word currently in use that means the same thing.
Egregore derives from Greek and zeitgeist is derived from German. In the past, “egregore” has been anthropomorphized. Zeitgeist has not. But that’s not enough to use an archaic word for what most people would define as “Zeitgeist” which in this time is the known word for what underlies who we are, what we do, why we do, and how we do.
It’s Wednesday and I’m still iced in. The coating of ice is hard and slick. Made the treacherous trek to mailbox only to find it is iced shut. Ice was so thick and hard–no way to pry it open. It’s all about the angle of the sun. My front yard doesn’t get much direct sun, therefore there is little melt. What melts, refreezes into the hard immovable mass that is coating my mailbox.
Why do the white supemacists need to have their hate constantly validated? Why can’t they keep their hate to themselves? I’m sure they have many friends they can express their hate to. Why publicize their hate to the public?
Nipah virus–never heard of it, so I googled it. There are cases in India. There is no vaccine for it and no known cure. The virus is deadly. The outbreak in India may be isolated for now, but viruses, like COVID, do spread from continent to continent and one should be aware, especially with the ongoing influx of tech workers from India. The U.S. is ill-prepared for any type of viral outbreak with the anti-science regime now in power.
ICE–emulating their Ice Age marauding barbaric ancestors? These males have no clue as to what a civilized society is or could be. It’s been thousands of years and they have exhibited no growth, no learning. They are truly Homo lacerta cerebrum.
Wikipedia–Stochastic terrorism is the use of mass communications to stir up random lone wolves to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable.
That is what this fascist regime does. The mouthpieces dehumanize and threaten whomever they consider “Other”, hoping to stir one of their ignorant followers to violence against that “Other”. They can then cynically/hypocritically offer thoughts and prayers while blaming the victim for the violence.
Still plenty of ice on the trees and shrubs. The trees, with a crackle, are shedding their icy coat under a winter’s sun that barely warms the days above freezing. One can never deny the majestic show that Mother Earth puts on for us!
