It is so difficult finding the beat to which one walks, tall and proud, in a society where only certain tangibles matter. It is even more difficult to walk to that beat.
How can a representative who just voted against the best interests of his constituency say–They’ll get over it. How cruel, amoral, heartless, greedy, inhumane. There’s a special place in hell for representatives like him.
“Biden wanted me in here…. It didn’t work out that way, but he wanted me in here, that son of a bitch.” This is the puerile leader of this United States spouting ad hominem attacks to boost his narcistic ego and to direct attention from his unconstitutional actions. This person’s actions prove him to be small, petty, vicious, non-intelligent. Big, beautiful bill (infantile language?)–are his followers so stupid, so ignorant that they do not know that beauty can hide great ugliness? There is nothing in the bill that is beautiful. The words hide the pain, the suffering, the death that the implementation of this bill will cause.
Greed doesn’t build civilizations; Greed builds hierarchies of exploitation. The United States is built on greed, therefore the United States is no civilization.
What if July 4, 2025 is the day in the future historians say that the unfulfilled promise of the United States died? Greed, hatred, ignorance, individuality won.
I think the Universe is impervious to us as discrete beings. However, the Universe appears to seek truth, but truth gained from experiencing and the Universe experiences through us. Maybe, that’s where “the arc of the Universe tends toward justice” comes from. We seek Plato’s perfect form, but perfection is an impossibility in an entropic universe. But the Universe learns from our seeking that perfection.
Note on Birthright case.. Main note, as has been said before by others, the ideologues on the Supreme Court are originalists only when originalism gives them an answer that aligns with their ideology. Same with precedents.
We are living in the age of irrational ignorance. Maybe that’s what AI really stands for–Age of Ignorance.
In Spanish Florida and farther north, the first African slaves arrived in 1526 with Lucas Vázquez de Ayllón‘s establishment of San Miguel de Gualdape on the current Georgia coast.[93][94] They rebelled and lived with indigenous people, destroying the colony in less than two months.[95] More slaves arrived in Florida in 1539 with Hernando de Soto, and in 1565 with the founding of St. Augustine, Florida.[94][95] Slaves escaping to Florida from the colony of Georgia were offered their freedom by Carlos II’s proclamation November 7, 1693, on condition of converting to Catholicism,[96] and it became a place of refuge for slaves fleeing the Thirteen Colonies.[96][97] Quote from Wikipedia. I wish content creators would do a bit of research before posting. I do not understand the content creators who deny being descendants of Slaves, who say they are some lost tribe and therefore not Black, who say they are Native Americans–anything other than the descendants of Slaves. Remember The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor King movie? How the character played by Richard Pryor was Cuban/Native American? Anything other than Black? At the time I saw the movie–comedic, but also pathetic was my thought.
The above paragraph explains one source of “Black” Native Americans. So easy to find. Those African Slaves brought to Florida in the 1500s were probably male and, when they revolted, they were absorbed into the local Native American tribes. However, their genetic marker would probably be evident in their descendants. Since those Africans were probably from West Africa, the same as the Africans in the trans-Atlantic Slave trade, there would be no difference in the genetic markers, now that we have the means to test DNA.
Another source of African DNA may have come from the Mali expedition that took place in the 1300s. No one knows if the Mali expedition ever reached the Americas. All that is known is that the ships did not return. If those ships sailed the currents from the African coast, the ships could have landed anywhere from Brazil to the Caribbean islands to the coasts of what is now North America. So…(speculation) another source of African DNA in the native populations of the Americas.
I’ve written about this before. Blackfoot or Blackfeet may not have referred to a tribe, but to the manner in which Blacks affiliated with certain tribes were identified. I don’t know if the term was meant as a pejorative. I don’t know if the Native Americans used the term or if this was the manner in which whites referred to those Blacks. In my own family, my father told us the legend of the Blackfoot ancestor. However, through DNA testing on both maternal and paternal sides, no Native American heritage was found. Note: the testing for ancestry that is now available does not mean that there was no such ancestry, but that it is improbable. And…if that Native American Ancestor had African ancestry, it would not be differentiated from the African Ancestry derived from the trans-Atlantic Slave trade of the 17th and 18th centuries. Further note, there was family, collateral relatives, who lived in Oklahoma in proximity to the Native Americans who were forced settled there.
The Blackfoot Tribe was nomadic and primarily located in the American Great Plains region which mainly extended across the states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. https://www.warpaths2peacepipes.com/indian-tribes/blackfoot-tribe.htm Of those states, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska Territory, and Dakota Territory were free. Only Missouri was a Slave state. Therefore, Slaves probably wouldn’t have had that much interaction with the Blackfoot tribe and there were probably not that many free Backs in areas occupied by the Blackfoot Tribe.
The gross incompetency of this administration is coming home to roost. Floods in Texas have killed over one hundred Texans. Republicans have come forward with their hypocritical meaningless thoughts and prayers and conspiracy theories, the leader plays golf–incompetency and ignorance rules. And the people who voted for this incompetency, meanness, cruelty, beg for help that might not come Remember any assistance is socialism and you, rugged individualist, need no help. Your bootstraps…oh, your boots are floating down a raging river? No matter…bootstraps. You’ve got your bootstraps! It’s that old joke–God, why didn’t you save me? God’s reply: I sent a car, a bus, a plane, and a boat to save you. You chose to remain and I cannot help someone who will not help themselves. You chose hell… Begone! Well, I embellished the joke…just a tad.
“As a Black lady I know said–‘I’m so glad I’m Black, I could shout’!” … Response to white ignorance–‘You can’t see me blushing and, if I could be borned over and had my choice, I’d still belong to the Black Nation.” Quotes from a letter written by my approximately ninety year old cousin, now deceased, circa 1997.
