Can you believe? It is 2024 and we still have Black mothers, who now have a choice, giving their daughters white dolls. I had white dolls when there was no choice. Growing up, in the stores in the southern town of my childhood, there were no Black dolls. Maybe, that’s why I never bonded with them to the point where when they were mutilated by my siblings–it was a so what feeling. I felt no anger and cried no tears. Just a piece of plastic. I wonder if I would have felt the same if the doll had even remotely looked like me.
Machismo–describes a strong or exaggerated sense of manliness; an assumptive attitude that virility, courage, strength, and entitlement to dominate are attributes or concomitants of masculinity. That’s what young males see in a male who is a liar, sexual predator, failed businessman, amoral. The young males who will vote for such a degenerate are themselves an example of toxic masculinity. For that is what they wish for themselves. Bombast, no boundaries, predation on those they perceive as weak and/or not like them. They have no concept of beneficial masculinity.
I read somewhere that a lioness when the lion who was her mate displeased her turned and with her powerful jaws broke his neck. Women will have to figure out how to “figuratively” break the necks of these toxic males so that society can find some balance.
Recently, I visited a gun shop. I was surprised at the prices of the guns that were on display. I don’t understand how anyone can complain about the price of food while buying guns at exorbitant prices. And those exorbitant prices were even in evidence at a pawn shop I visited. Why aren’t these people who are armed to the teeth complaining about the prices of the guns they carry? Are their priorities that skewed? Even ammunition was, in my opinion, over priced.
I now understand why the police cannot tell the difference between a toy gun and the real thing. The guns with price tags in the thousands looked like they were made of cheap plastic. The guns were mostly gray, almost a charcoal gray, or black. I’m glad I went. I, now, have no sympathy for the deplorables who complain about inflation, especially the price of food. Obviously, they’d rather be armed than to eat. That is their choice.
Just a note. The Republicans in this racist red state thinks we are stupid and not aware of their shenanigans. Guess whose name was first on the ballot? Not alphabetical unless this was reverse alphabetical. I read that and, it is unfortunate, but uneducated voters who vote with no conviction will vote for the first person on the ballot. So there is an advantage to the first name on the ballot and this state gave the advantage to a convicted criminal, an insurrectionist, a racist, a wanna be dictator, a failed businessman, a person of no character, morals or ethics. Says something about this state, doesn’t it?
Says something about the United States. I am so disappointed, but for us this country has always disappointed. Hate and greed ruled, but that is the true foundation of this country. The darkness that has always been ever present in this country is now in full view and it’s ugliness is flaunting itself. This country had an opportunity to move forward to a future that celebrated possibilities. Instead it chose a future that repeats the darkness of past failures. Failures that led to war, to death, to the loss of civilization.
The historians who wrote that in the past, the citizens sidestepped such a future did not take into account the ignorance, lack of intelligence, and general stupidity of the current citizenry. In the past, the white males who sidestepped the rule by the few, the wanna be autocrats–most had some education that included the humanities and they wanted to prove they were different from the males who they viewed as a threat. That’s not the citizenry of 2024. The hoi polloi of 2024 is uneducated and proud of their non-education, their non-intellect. They are empty vessels who have filled themselves with the emotions of hate and greed. They have no use for intellect or thinking.
The candy store is open and all the proprietor can do is watch while it is being looted. No law enforcement will answer the proprietor’s call, no insurance will pay for the loss. The proprietor can only wring their hands as the looters gleefully walk away with the merchandise. One of the looters is heard to taunt–told you not to open the store.
I think we can call the 60 year period since the enactment of the Civil Rights Act an interregnum. The darkness of the United States was temporarily paused in a dawning dawn shadowed period that has lasted approximately 60 years. Now, full darkness has returned. I don’t think I am being hyperbolic. The light that the dawning dawn presaged never came. The trolls have started with their “return to slavery” language. There is evidence that these evil white supremacists are planning to target Black women for violence…because they are easy to spot. Oh, and the repeal of the 19th amendment because women shouldn’t vote. (What are the incels saying…your body…my choice.) And the dogs of evil are free to wreak havoc as they have in the past.
If a white person uses the words “character” or “qualifications” when in conversation with you, walk away. Today, those words are buzz words whose meanings have been distorted and upended to support white supremacy. And no one but a white person can meet those distorted and upended meanings. Move on…you’re wasting your time.
Sorry folks, it’s not about the economy. Always trying to give white people an out for their venality. Those white people can afford MAGA gear, big trucks, guns and ammunition, travel to rallies, but not a dozen eggs? MAGAS and the ignorant voted their hearts…hatred, selfishness, misogyny, sexism, racism. As stated above…they have already started expressing their evil and gloating that there will be no consequences for them doing so.
It’s time to focus on safety, shelter, food…the necessities. That’s what I did before.
As your bright and tiny spark
Lights the traveler in the dark,
Though I know not what you are,
